No respect...no respect

In our culture today we have many patterns that are unlike any other in the world. For example in the household men and women play an equal part in the decision making. Which seems fair enough. We are all equal human beings and should therefore be treated equally. But that is not the issue. The issue is respect. People would naturally assume that I'm referring to women. But in our somewhat backwards society, men get no respect. That seems odd to say, but if you look closely at how women treated men 50 years ago as opposed to now, you would find some shocking differences. Men, especially white men, are treated as if they are stupid and have no idea what is going on. Most women are informed and keep their husbands informed. When women speak a gentlemen will allow her to finish her sentence, they open doors, they bring flowers etc. But what do women do for men? We yell, we criticize and tell them to tuck their shirts in and don't say thank you for the little they do. I realuze that not all men are gentlemen and that not all women are ungrateful. Asa society, however, we fit these stereotypes. What ever happened to etiquette? Women should respect men and visa versa. Women are not superior, so why do we act like it? We do treat the men we love with such disrespect? Young girls talk back to their fathers. Married women yell and criticize their husbands for no reason. Old women are taken better care of than some old men. Why? Are we not all created equal? I hope for the sake of all mankind and especially the people America, that the trends reverses and it all becomes equal in the end.

Think before you speak and especially before you act

You know what I hate?
I hate it when the people who you love most make you feel like a complete idiot for somethign that you are totally justified in saying.
When they blow off something you are completely passionate about and don't take you seriously. It has to be one of the most frustrating things in the world. Even if they don't think its such a big deal can't they take the time to notice that they are only demeaning you and making you regret being who you are? That is why people have such a hard time with being self concious. They people they love and trust most are the same people who do the most damage.
